Are you a factory or do you own your own
factory?
We are not a factory, we’re a manufacturing and
sourcing enterprise. You may simply label us as a
supplier. We spend much time in factories for QC
purposes and for maintaining the close relationships
that we do have with our factories. We work
arm-in-arm with factories in design, production,
tooling and with some factories we’re an extension
of their sales departments.

Do you visit the factory?
We visit factories before production. We’ve been
doing this a long time, so we know the key stages
when to visit the factory during product development
and mass production. Our team catches problems on
the production line before it reaches the
point-of-no-return. Most Asian inspection companies
visit the production line after the fact…therefore
time, energy and money are wasted.

How should I label this type of business?
If you must label who we are or what we do; call
us your production-partner or supplier. It’s fine
with us if you consider us your office in China.
We manufacture and source. We spend just as much
time on production lines as workers in the factory.
We’re not an agent, broker or sourcing company.
We’re a supplier who likes to establish strategic
relationships with our customers; a relationship
that exceeds normal buyer-supplier relations and
works on a higher, more trusted level.

What happens if I receive my order and the goods are
not up to expectations?
Before the goods leave the factory, you will have
been updated throughout the entire process of the
order. By that time you should have confirmed
production samples in hand and much email and
communication from JLmade showing your order’s
progress, observations on happenings, etc …
Having said that, if in the rare instance you
receive merchandise that you’re not happy with or
that is faulty; we’d have to reproduce if time
allows.
As far as monetary compensation goes; we’d go
back through the production process and determine
what step was missed and/or incorrectly confirmed.
If the production mishap was from China side then
the factory would work in recouping losses and
reproducing.

Who handles shipping?
JLmade has an extensive shipping program; we can
handle FOB China port or all the way to-door
destination side. This will not include
duties or VAT destination side. We can quote to-door
(DDU) without these duties and the buyer contacts
with a forwarder or customs agent to determine the
necessary taxes.
Common shipping methods we handle are FOB and CIF or
DDU sea and air. Contact us to determine the best
method for your project.

I sent an email but there is no response. Should I
call your office?
We pride ourselves on our fast response time. In
case an email does not get through or we simply
missed it; always feel free to phone us (especially
if the case is urgent, would not recommend only
sending an email). You can also look us up on
LinkedIn or
Twitter.

What is your minimum order value?
This can vary from product to product. Generally,
we recommend an order that is less than USD5,000.00
to be placed locally. But bring the inquiry to us
and we’ll evaluate to see if worth doing China-side.
The principal reason that smaller value orders are
unadvisable is because the factory does not want the
order. A small order is ran on the production lines,
with little care from the factory and small
quantities are harder to manage from a
control-perspective in comparison to larger runs.
Large Chinese factories differ in their operational
formats in comparison to overseas smaller workshops
or factories that involve less handwork and more
machine-power.

Do you send samples?
Yes we do. With first time customers we request
they offer their express courier account information
to post the sample (ie. FedEx, UPS). There can also
be various setup fees such as print films,
machine-setup, etc… JLmade strives to keep necessary
expenses as low as possible.

Isn’t it better to just order from a factory?
That depends on what you want and what you are
ordering. A factory, just like you, has vendors
(material, print, components). Some items require
input from multiple vendors. Is the factory you
order from capable to combine all those
manufacturers? Will the factory you order from
assure quality and control over those 3rd party
vendors? Is the factory you order from knowledgeable
about your brand and its expectations? Will the
factory care about your delivery time? If you are a
promotional products supplier, are you going to find
a new factory every time you have a new inquiry? If
you are a retail buyer, is the factory going to
assure a consistent production and quality
throughout the order or will there be a high
percentage of rejected pieces? Is your staff
equipped for the control, required time investment,
and visits to the factory to assure your product is
manufactured as per expectations?
After reading those questions, then go back and
ask yourself if it’s better to contact a factory
directly.
